Pair of large three-light gilded bronze candelabras with herons and polychrome porcelain flowers, France, 19th century Measurements: cm H 82 x W 50 x D 34. base 35 x 34 cm Price: private negotiation Item accompanied by our certificate of authenticity The pair of large candelabras was made in France in the 19th century in chiselled and gilded bronze, adorned with figures of herons and floral decorations in hand-painted polychrome porcelain. Executed in the Louis XV style, they feature a pierced base in chiselled gilded bronze with rocaille motifs composed of scrolls and phytomorphic elements. The porcelain heron figures rest on the base, around which branches with gilded bronze leaves develop, to which various polychrome porcelain flowers are attached. The three branches end with leaf-shaped bobeches and bud-shaped candle holders in bronze. The typology and conformation of the three-flame candlesticks, with phytomorphic arms on a mixtilinear base, dates back to rocaille models of the Louis XV style on which Meissen porcelain was mounted, to which the flowers and herons clearly refer. Very decorative and pleasant in size and decoration, these candelabras can be displayed, even as sculptures, on chests of drawers, consoles, gueridons and small tables, even in the center of rooms, observable from different angles. With the addition of one or more lampshades, they can also be adapted into lamps.
