Carved and gilded wooden console table, Piedmont, Baroque period, mid-18th century Dimensions: cm W 120 x H 91 x D 52 Price: private negotiation Object accompanied by our certificate of authenticity This elegant console table was made in the Baroque period, around the mid-18th century, in Piedmont. The gray Bardiglio marble top has a curved and molded profile. The undertop band is very particular, in finely carved and gilded wood, openwork both on the front, on the uprights and laterally. The rich and wavy ornaments consist of rocaille parts and phytomorphic elements, symmetrical, which in the center create a sort of frame for a rose. The uprights of the two legs are characteristic of the period, wavy, arched and richly carved. The legs end with volutes and curls and are connected at the bottom by a wavy crosspiece, in gilded wood, carved and openwork to create an asymmetrical rocaille-style decoration. This console table, which stands out for the refinement of the carvings and the copious presence of openwork elements which refer to the French Louis XV style that Piedmont took as a stylistic reference, appears very bright and decorative. Although rich in ornament, it is graceful and can easily be placed in different environments, such as entrances and corridors, but also living rooms or bedrooms, both next to antique and modern furnishings.
