It depicts the second of the great feasts of the liturgical year (September 14), that is, the Exaltation of the Cross, which consists of the finding of the Cross of Christ by Helen, mother of Constantine, in Jerusalem and its exposure to the faithful by the patriarch Macarius in 326. The icon therefore comes from an Iconostasis in which it was probably placed in the order of the feasts. The icon is accompanied by an expertise by Pietro Belletti of Imago Lignea.
