Measurements: cm H 156, W 146, D 40 Price: confidential negotiation Item accompanied by a certificate of authenticity This fine showcase was made in Paris in the second half of the 19th century, an era when great cabinetmakers and bronze workers were active, whose skills are also evident in this piece of furniture. In the Louis XVI style, the showcase is veneered in violet wood and skillfully inlaid in bois de rose to create chromatic effects of great decorative impact. The piece consists of three parts, with the central part, twice as wide, projecting more than the lateral ones. Three glass doors close the shelves, lined in silk. The top surface is in marble, while the frame below the surface features a very refined decoration in gilded and meticulously chiseled bronze. The central bronzes depict the head of the goddess Ceres, with fruit and cornucopias, and beside her, two goats surrounded by large racemes, spirals, and volutes with phytomorphic elements. Laterally, but still on the front of the piece, next to the foliage scrolls, a pair of putti with goat legs play the horn. Above, runs a thin gilded bronze frame with flowers and fruit, while below, and around the glass, two molded gilded frames. Chiseled gilded bronze applications in the shape of flowers decorate the corners of the glass. The lock escutcheons, in gilded bronze, are enriched with laurel branches. In the center of the lower band of the showcase, inside an oval gilded bronze frame, surrounded by ribbons, laurel leaves, rose trails, and other decorations of vegetable form, is inserted a ceramic plaque from the English manufactory of Wedgwood. The showcase rests on six feet with a gilded bronze tip and ring. This showcase has a very refined structural architecture, which makes it slender and graceful without diminishing its importance. Therefore, it remains easily insertable into different environments, thanks to the strong decorativeness and the refinement of its decorations, cared for in every detail. In good condition, the marble top has a fracture.
