Center table veneered in kingwood, France, mid-18th century, Louis XV period Measurements: W 39.5 x D 30.5 x H 66.5 Price: confidential negotiation Item accompanied by a certificate of authenticity The elegant and small Louis XV table, made in France around the mid-18th century, is veneered with precious kingwood, characterized by a color in which dark red alternates with purple streaks, allowing the cabinetmaker to create particular chromatic effects through the specular placement of the mirrors according to the grain of the wood. Furthermore, the inlays on the top and sides create very refined geometric decorations. The furniture has a sinuous line accentuated by the four arched and moved legs, with 45-degree beveled corners. Laterally on the right there is a drawer while on the front there is a lock with key and spout in gilded and chiseled bronze. Thanks to the lock it is possible to open the flap top, quadrangular in shape with a slightly moved profile. Inside there is a compartment veneered in carob wood. A second support surface is positioned slightly lower and is established at the height of the curvature of the legs, conferring harmony and stability. The tips of the four feet are in gilded and finely chiseled bronze and further embellish the table, also bringing brightness. This table, of small dimensions, is particularly decorative and valuable for the type of veneering. It can be placed next to a wall or, thanks to its finish on all four sides, it is possible to place it in the center of a room, in a living room or in a studio, next to armchairs and sofas.
